Hello, Andrew from Globarx here. I am an American living in Japan, in Ehime prefecture. I have been living in Japan in a fairly rural area, and my Japanese is just about approaching the N3 level. My Test Taking Experience

Taking the Japrise® assessment test was an extremely easy process. All I needed was to be connected to the internet and to have a working microphone. They even perform an environment check to make sure that everything is working as it should, this is especially helpful if the test taker is not the best with technology. Japrise® makes sure that taking the test is simple, practical, and reflective of how you’d actually use Japanese in daily life.

The actual test is separated into 5 parts that mimic real world communication situations. 

Part 1: Interview – I had to respond to various questions asked about myself, however there was no visual text provided so I had to listen attentively to the questions. Then, I had 20 seconds to respond to the question.

Part 2: Reading Aloud – I read sentences naturally, focusing on pronunciation, fluidity, and understanding. This section started off easy and then progressively became more difficult as the sentences lengthened.

Part 3: Speech – I had 40 seconds to prepare a speech, then I delivered a 1-minute speech on the given topic. 

Part 4: Presentation – I had to analyze a graph and explain it clearly, just like I would in a business meeting.

Part 5: Roleplay – I responded to a simulated workplace scenario, offering solutions and opinions.

This test does not waste any time. As soon as you start it, there is no stopping it. It did a great job of maximizing my time by continuing to the next section as soon as I finished the previous section. Each section felt real and natural in its questioning and presentation. Too often, in other Japanese language tests, are the topics of the questions random and unrealistic. During this entire test, I always felt like it was a situation I have encountered in business or one that I will encounter in the future.
